Edward Nathaniel Yard (1928-1951) was the third and youngest son of Harold and Ethel Yard. As a child, Edward and his older brothers, Clifford and Robert, were known in and around the neighborhood of 135th Street as the "Yard Boys". The Yard brothers often made their living, like so many other African-American children at the time, by shining shoes at the local barber shop and tap dancing.

Edward join the Army in 1945 and served for 2 years in WWII. He was honored with WWII Victory Medal along with certificates for excellence in physical fitness and carpentry.

Edward died in an accident in 1951. It is unknown if he was survived by any children. He was 23 years old at the time of his death.
