Harold Yard, New York City, N.Y.

Harold Yard, the grandfather of the submitter, was born in St. Micheals, Barbados in the year 1898. He was the 2nd of 4 children and the only son to Catherine Maynard and Edward Yard. 
On April 5, 1923, he joined the Navy and sailed on the S.S. VASARI-127974 from New York to South America and back. His voyage lasted 4 months. 
In 1923, Harold married Ethel Mitchell-Yard and they had 3 boys, Clifford Harold, Robert De Costa and Edward Nathaniel. The Yard Family lived in Harlem all their lives.  
Harold died December 21, 1938 in Harlem Hospital from complications of Pneumonia. The funeral was held at Stewart & Co. Funeral Directors and Morticians, located 1480-5th Ave on the corner of 119th Street. He is buried in Silver Mount Cemetery.
