Henry Weaver (1832-1902) was the founder of the Weaver, Indiana settlement. Henry was a free person of color. The Weaver Family, along with the Pettifords, Shoecrafts, Jones and Evans families, left North Carolina in the 1840's and headed west. Henry Weaver married Sarah Burden Weaver and their daughter, Martha Weaver, married Joseph Pettiford and became the mother of my grandmother, Orinda Pettiford Miller.
